SEASONALLY ADJUSTED GROSS DOMESTIC PRODUCT
& GROSS NATIONAL PRODUCT
The generally successful electoral process and the stable recovery of major economies in the world boosted the Philippine economy, as the seasonally adjusted GDP grew by 1.3 percent in the second quarter of 2010 after a record growth of 3.8 percent in the previous quarter. The Industry sector contributed immensely as it recorded a quarter-on-quarter growth of 3.5 percent after two consecutive quarters of very high growth. The Services sector slowed down to 0.4 percent from 4.4 percent in the previous quarter. On the other hand, Agriculture, Fishery and Forestry recorded its fourth consecutive quarter of contraction as the El Nino phenomenon zapped the production of major agricultural crops. The seasonally adjusted GNP grew by 1.8 percent in the second quarter 2010, slightly slower than the 2.0 percent of the previous quarter.
