First Quarter 2003
Gross National Product & Gross Domestic Product

Details of Factor Flows From and To The Rest of the World

Net Factor Income from Abroad (NFIA) doubled its growth to 21.0 percent from 10.2 percent a year ago. The SARS scare and the recent war in the Middle East had minimal impact on the deployment of OFWs in the first quarter of the year. Property expense during the first quarter of the year contracted by 7.2 percent, lower than the reported decline in the first quarter of 2002.  The contraction in property expense and the increase in compensation of OFWs resulted in a higher NFIA for the period.
