Gross Domestic Product, Gross National Product and
Personal Consumption Expenditure

Consumer spending sustained its growth in the first three quarters of 2002, contributing 2.8 percentage points to the 4.2% GNP growth. Spurred by increased expenditures on food, transportation and communication and miscellaneous services, Personal Consumption Expenditure accelerated to 3.7% from last year’s 3.5% increase.
