CAR inflation rises in October 2011
The year-on-year inflation rate for all items in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) rose from 2.9 percent in September 2011 to 3.6 percent in October 2011. The increase was primarily due to the general rise in the prices of items under Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages by 1.6 percentage points. Higher inflation was also recorded for two other commodity groups: Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas, and Other Fuels (0.2 percentage point) and Restaurants and Miscellaneous Goods and Services (0.1 percentage point). Inflation rates declined in the following groups: Transport (0.4 percentage point); Furnishing, Household Equipment and Routine Maintenance of the House (0.3 percentage point); Recreation and Culture (0.2 percentage point) and Clothing and Footwear (0.1 percentage point). Prices remained constant in other commodity groups.
The purchasing power of the peso in CAR stood at 80 centavos in October 2011 from P1.00 in 2006.
