The year-on-year headline inflation rate for all items in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) accelerated from 4.3 percent in November 2009 to 5.5 percent in December 2009. The increase was primarily due to the rise in prices of all commodity groups during the holidays. The inflation rate for Fuel, Light and Water jumped from 2.9 percent in November to 12.6 percent in December. Housing and Repairs advanced from 2.5 percent to 9.4 percent. Services moved-up from 3.6 percent to 5.3 percent. Food, Beverages and Tobacco grew by 0.4 percentage point to reach 6.0 percent by year-end. The Clothing and Miscellaneous groups each inched-up by 0.1 percentage point to post rates of 1.8 percent and 2.4 percent, respectively. CAR recorded a Consumer Price Index (CPI) for all items of 166.8 in December 2009. The National Statistics Office prepares and publishes the CPI and the corresponding inflation rates monthly
