CAR inflation eases to 4.6% in April 2010

The year-on-year headline inflation rate for all items in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) slowed down from 5.1 percent in March 2010 to 4.6 percent in April 2010. This was primarily due to the deceleration of Food, Beverages and Tobacco (FBT) and other commodity groups during the period. The inflation rate for FBT decelerated from 3.4 percent in March to 3.0 percent in April while price movement eased for Fuel, Light and Water from 19.2 percent to 15.6 percent and Services from 6.9 percent to 6.6 percent. The inflation rate for Clothing moved-up by 0.2 percentage point to post 1.8 percent while Housing and Repairs grew by 0.3 percentage point to register 3.6 percent. The price movement for Miscellaneous group remained stable at 2.5 percent.

CAR recorded a Consumer Price Index (CPI) for all items of 165.6 in April 2010. The National Statistics Office prepares and publishes the CPI and the corresponding inflation rates monthly
