Fourth Quarter Visitor Arrivals Highest In Car In 2006

Visitor arrivals in the 4 th quarter are the highest on a per quarter comparison based on 2006 data from the Department of Tourism – Cordillera Administrative Region. The 2006 4 th quarter visitor arrival of 283,301 is equivalent to 28.4 percent of the total 2006 visitors. This figure is, however, not far from the 2 nd quarter share of visitors representing 28.1 percent of the whole year visitor arrivals.

Likewise, the highest arrival of foreign and domestic visitors was during the 4 th quarter of 2006 with 26.7 percent and 43.3 percent of the year total, respectively. However, for domestic visitors, the 4 th quarter portion of 28.4 percent is a little lower than the 2 nd quarter share of 28.8, which is the highest. This may indicate that the Panagbenga has drawn domestic visitors on a level at par with the lure of the generally cool Cordillera weather in December.

Visitor arrivals include tourists, excurtionists and aliens entering the country for a temporary stay not exceeding one year and for purposes other than immigration, permanent residence or employment for remuneration in the country. Moreover, visitor arrivals include Filipino nationals residing permanently abroad on temporary stay in the Philippines not exceeding one year. A foreign visitor is a foreign national visiting the country as a tourist. A domestic tourist is a resident visitor within the economic territory of the country of reference.
