Temperature in the City of Pines increased by a degree in the last seven years

For 2000 to 2006, data from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAG-ASA) show an increase of 1.2 and 1.0 Celsius degree in maximum temperatures recorded in Baguio City for the months of April and May, respectively. The highest level for April was recorded at 28.2°C in 2004 while the highest for May was posted at 29.4°C in 2003. Although there is a generally increasing trend for the whole period, there is a downtrend in the last three years for both months considered (see graph below).

Global warming was the focus of the Earth Day celebration last April 22, 2007.
