RSCC-CAR celebrates 18th NSM closing activity in Baguio City
The 18th National Statistics Month (NSM) ended with a simple but meaningful celebration last 26 October 2007. This culminating activity was held at Margarita Hall, Supreme Hotel, Baguio City. The programme featured a presentation on the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), a video on the month-long NSM celebration and the awarding of certificates. The Regional Statistical Coordination Committee – Cordillera Administrative Region (RSCC-CAR) awarded certificates of appreciation to the agencies, academe and the 18th NSM-Technical Working Group in recognition of their valuable support and active participation. These awardees were the following: Bureau of Agricultural Statistics, Department of Agriculture, Department of Education, Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Department of Health, Department of the Interior and Local Government, Department of Trade and Industry, Department of Transportation and Communication, Environmental Management Bureau, Mines and Geo-sciences Bureau, National Economic and Development Authority, National Statistical Coordination Board, National Statistics Office, City Planning and Development Office-Baguio City, Baguio City National High School and the Benguet State University.
The opening remarks were given by Mr. Benjamin Y. Navarro, Secretary of the RSCC-CAR and Regional Head of the National Statistical Coordination Board-CAR. Mr. Navarro gave emphasis on the relationship of statistics and the MDGs and also gave thanks to the different agencies and to the 18th NSM-TWG. The closing remarks were given by Dir. Olivia G. Gulla, Co-chair, RSCC-CAR and Regional Director of the National Statistics Office-CAR. She stressed the importance of networking and cooperation among agencies. She congratulated all agencies for conducting commendable activities inspite of the meager resources available. Kayang-kaya kung sama-sama.
