Kalinga municipalities join 20 poorest in 2003
Two municipalities of Kalinga Province were among the country’s twenty poorest municipalities in 2003 based on the latest Small Area Poverty Estimates of the National Statistical Coordination Board. The Municipalities of Tanudan and Tinglayan were ranked 2nd and 12th nationwide for having the highest poverty incidences, with 88.06 percent and 82.14 percent respectively.  Two more Kalinga municipalities, Pasil and Pinukpuk are among the twenty poorest in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR).

Poverty worsens in CAR between 2003 & 2006
As per the latest estimates of the National Statistical Coordination Board (NSCB), the poverty incidence of families in CAR rose from 25.8 percent in 2003 to 28.8 percent in 2006. In magnitude, the total number of poor families grew by 20.8 percent and stood at 87,050 families in 2006. Similarly, poverty incidence of population, which is the proportion of poor individuals to the total population in the region, increased from 32.2 percent in 2003 to 34.5 percent in 2006. Every start of the year, the NSCB collects and consolidates the calendar of releases of statistical outputs of the different government agencies. This is a mechanism aimed at promoting transparency, timeliness and accessibility of government information by providing advance information to the public as to what and when official statistics will become available. 2004 & 2006 Poverty Maps of Ifugao Province

In line with the government's poverty reduction program, the National Statistical Coordination Board (NSCB), in cooperation with the Provincial Government of Ifugao, has been implementing a Poverty Mapping activity which aims to identify the poor areas in the province as measured by selected socioeconomic indicators. The maps may be useful for local executives, planners and other officials in identifying what and where poverty alleviation programs and projects may be implemented.

The 2004 & 2006 poverty maps can now be availed of in CDROM.

2007 Regional Social & Economic Trends- CAR

The Regional Social and Economic Trends (RSET) continues to be the only regular publication in the region that presents annual multi-sectoral data.  

The 2007 Edition  highlights the Millennium Development Goals (MDG) indicators available in the region and a special feature on indigenous peoples (IP) statistics.
