Unemployment rate up to 2.9% in October 2007

 

Labor Force Data released by the National Statistics Office  (NSO) revealed that for October 2007, the unemployment rate of Zamboanga Peninsula was pegged at 2.9.%, a slight increase from 2.8% last year.

 

Across regions, Cagayan Valley, Zamboanga Peninsula and the Cordillera Capital Region had the lowest unemployment rates at 2.3, 2.9 and 3.1 percent, respectively. However, the National Capital Region had the highest unemployment rate at 10.6 percent, this was a significant improvement from the last year’s 14.7 percent.

Underemployment rate of the country dropped to 18.1 percent from 20.4 percent in 2006. Among the regions, Bicol posted the highest rate at 34.8%, a 3.3% decrease as compared to the same period last year.
