...Zamboanga Peninsula Maternal Mortality Improves to 68.78 per 100,000 Live Births?

 

The 2009 Annual Statistical Report of the Department of Health - Center for Health Development Zamboanga Peninsula (DOH-CHDZP) revealed that maternal mortality situation in Zamboanga Peninsula has improved to about 68.78 per 100,000 live births in 2009 from about 91.56 per 100,000 live births in 2008.

 

Among the provinces, Zamboanga del Norte showed a remarkable reduction of maternal mortality from about 79.56 per 100,000 live births in 2008 to about 25.23 per 100,000 live births in 2009.

 

Zamboanga Sibugay also improved from about 87.15 per 100,000 live births in 2008 to about 72.77 per 100,000 live births in 2009.

 

On the other hand, Zamboanga del Sur maternal mortality worsened from about 37.29 per 100,000 live births in 2008 to about 111.87 per 100,000 live births in 2009.

 

Among the cities in the Zamboanga Peninsula, Zamboanga City showed a significant improvement on maternal deaths from about 173.6 per 100,000 live births in 2008 to about 81.24 per 100,000 live births 2009.

 

Moreover, Dapitan City also improved significantly from about 139.57 per 100,000 live births in 2008 to about 75.02 per 100,000 live births in 2009. Dipolog showed no maternal deaths in 2009.
