Consumer prices jump to 8.6% in January 2008
The beginning of the year 2008 saw a higher year-on-year headline inflation rate in the region at 8.6 percent in January from 5.7 percent in December. This was effected by the higher upward movements in the rates of all the commodity groups except for Services. Inflation a year ago was 4.2 percent.
