The Zamboanga Peninsula inflation rate in March  2011 continued to accelerate to 5.5 percent from  4.1 percent in February 2011. This was due to the significant increase in the inflation rate of Food Beverages and Tobacco, and Fuel, Light, and Water by about 1.7 percentage points from 5.0 percent and 4.5 percent in January, respectively. Moreover, Services slightly increase by 0.9 percentage point, Clothing by 0.9 percentage point, and Housing and Repairs by 0.6 percentage point.  March consumer price index was recorded at 177.1.
