Palay Production Improves by 32.6% in 3rd Quarter 2011 The July-September 2011 palay production for Zamboanga Peninsula was 221,552 MT, 32.6% higher than the 2010 level of 167,105 MT. Area harvested expanded by 27.9%, from 43,911 hectares in 2010 to 56,157 hectares this year. Significant increases in production and area harvested were due to sufficient rainfall resulting to more plantings in both rainfed and irrigated areas. Yield per hectare increased from 3.8 MT/Ha to 3.9 MT this quarter.
