Cases of intentional fire incidents have a total of 16 only during the year.

On the nature of the fire, structures have been reflected to be mostly razed to the ground with a total of 131 incidents. Although there were also some other cases coming from vehicular incidents, only much lower with a total of 10.

Reports also showed that no firefighter was killed in 2009 from all city/provinces in Region IX. But there were a total of 11 civilians killed from fire; 4 in Zamboanga del Norte and 7 in Zamboanga City.

The frequency of fire occurrences, as stated by the BFP was: one fire incident in every 3days, 9hours, 52minutes, 8 seconds.
