Medical and Allied Course Still the Top Choice in Zamboanga Peninsula for SY: 2008-2009 The Commission on Higher Educationb(CHED) reported that Medical and Allied course is still the most preferred profession in Region IX for school year (SY) 2008-2009. This could be attributed to the big demand for medical professionals particularly nurses abroad. It can be noted that the number of enrollees among the top five most preferred professions. Education and teacher training recorded the highest decrease at 0.79 percent This was followed by IT-Related Disciplines at 0.67 percent, Business Administration and related courses with a decrease of 0.49 percent, medical and allied courses at 0.33 percent drop and Trade, Craft and Industrial discipline, which decelerated by 0.06 percent. It can also be noted that among the disciplines, only four increased. Service Trades disciplines recorded the highest increase at 15.6 percent. Followed by Architecture and Town Planning disciplines at 4.8 percent, Religion and Theology, which increase by 1.8 percent and Home Economics disciplines at 1.25 percent.
