RESPONSIBILITIES
At the subnational level, the
National Statistical Coordination Board (NSCB) regional units also carry out
the objectives set forth by the NSCB Central Office.
Responsibilities of the NSCB Regional Unit
Administer activities of government statistical agencies and carry out
activities designed to strengthen the capability of the subnational
statistical system in the production and dissemination of timely, accurate
and relevant statistics;

Identify the statistical needs of agencies and the public;

Provide mechanisms to enhance inter-agency, inter-governmental cooperation
and interaction on statistical matters through the RSCC/PrSCC/CSCC and the
creation of Technical Working Groups on statistics at the provincial/city
level;

Provide the needed support and secretariat services to the RSCC by
preparing the agenda for the Committee’s meetings in consultation with the
Chairman as well as the required background and other technical materials;

Record and keep the minutes of the meetings of the RSCC and undertake such
activities as are necessary to implement/effect Committee resolutions and
decisions;

Facilitate in the strengthening of manpower technical capability through
the conduct of trainings, workshops, conferences, etc. relating to such;

Monitor the performance of the trainees to determine whether the trainees
have applied their acquired knowledge/skills during the training;

Generate awareness of statistics as a tool for advocacy. This includes the
production and dissemination of publications such as Statwatch, press
releases, and spearheading the NSM celebration

Systematize and institutionalize a statistical information system. This
involve the improvement, consolidation, compilation, maintenance and
dissemination of relevant statistics coming from data producers in the
region which can be utilized by data users. This include the setting up of a
computerized one-stop-shop of statistical information which is fast,
accessible and reliable, coupled with convenience. Also included is the
maintenance and compilation of the Regional Social Economic Trends (RSET),
and setting up the regional databases;

Provide technical assistance to IACs, PrSCC/CSCC, data users and the
general public. Such IACs include the Regional Information Technology
Committee (RITC), Regional Cooperative Development Committee (RCDC), and the
Regional Population and Development Committee (RPDC), among others.
