The marine resources of the region is partly indicated by the length of its coastline estimated at 700 kilometers or about 43 percent of the total coastline of Mindanao.  

Major sea products include tuna, herring, sardines, anchovies and mackerel. Shrimps, prawns, lobsters, crabs, squid and cuttlefish also abound in the region. Aside from fish, the region is also a rich source of seaweeds, corals, pearls, ornamental seashells, sea cucumber and other marine products.
