background coordination with local government unit |
At the local level, vital statistical data and information are also gathered from various sources. Municipal Level At the municipal level, statistics generated by line agencies are used by the Municipal Development Council (MDC) to formulate development plans for the municipality and barangays. Provincial Level At the provincial level, data produced by agencies are collected and analyzed by the Provincial Planning and Development Office (PPDO) which serves as the technical and secretariat support of the Provincial Development Council (PDC). These data are useful in the formulation of plans and monitoring of the progress of programs implementation. Regional Level At the regional level, the Regional Development Council (RDC) is responsible for the formulation of the Regional Development Plan through the technical support of the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) regional office. For the NEDA regional office to be effective and efficient in its role as the sole technical arm of the RDC, it has to have access to a wide range of economic and social statistics down to the lowest level of desegregation. The Regional Statistical Coordination Committee (RSCC) with the technical and secretariat support of the NSCB regional units provides backstop support to NEDA and RDC in the coordination of statistical activities as it directs and guides statistical development activities in the region/province to ensure the generation of statistics needed in the preparation of development plans. The RSCC in particular recommends policy decisions affecting the development of the region and the local level to the NSCB central office. The RSCC also initiates actions to strengthen the statistical capability of the region by resolving problems present therein and by setting priority on the statistical activities to ensure the timely production of useful and reliable data for regional local development planning and decision-making. |
