5,000 displaced workers re-employed in Zamboanga Peninsula The Department of Labor and Employment-RO9 announced that about 5,000 affected workers in Zamboanga Peninsula are now re-employed and back to work in the Fishing and Lumber Industries. Close to 2,000 out of the 2,550 reported and validated displaced workers in the Fishing Industry were recalled/re-employed in the fishing and canning industries after the lean or off peak season for two months. more....
Zamboanga Peninsula Inflation Continues to Decelerate … Year-on-year headline inflation rate of Zamboanga Peninsula continued to decelerate at 3.6 percent in May from 8.1 percent in April this year. This was primarily due to the 5.9 percent decrease in Food, Beverage, and Tobacco items from 10.9 percent while the annual rates of price in other items also improved. The May 2009 inflation rate is the lowest rate since July 2007. May consumer price index was recorded at 162.4.
