Zamboanga Peninsula Fisheries Production Down by 18.18 Percent in 2011

Fisheries production for the year 2011 was 18.18 percent lower than the production in 2010. A decrease in production of 36.88 percent for commercial fisheries and 5.17 percent for municipal fisheries were recorded during the period according to preliminary data released by the Bureau of Agricultural Statistics.

Commercial fishermen produced 214,436.45 metric tons of fish or 125,314.52 metric tons much lower than last year's record. Three areas, Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga del Sur and Zamboanga City registered production shortfall. more...

ZamPen March Inflation Decelerates to 2.6 percent from 3.1 percent in February

The Regions' inflation rate further decelerated to 2.6 percent in March from 3.1 percent in February, as slower price increases were posted in some of the commodity groups, the National Statistics Office reported. Food and Non Alcohol Beverages decreased from 4.4 percent to 3.2 percent, Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco from 4.5 percent to .9 percent, and Transport from 5.5 percent to 5.2 percent. . . . . more...

Zamboanga Peninsula’s Population Rises by about Half Million

The 2010 Census on Population and Housing (CPH) conducted by the National Statistics Office (NSO) revealed that the total population of the Zamboanga Peninsula as of May 1, 2010 is 3,407,353, an increase of 575,941 as compared to the May 1, 2000 census counts. The Proclamation No.362 was signed by President Benigno S Aquino III on March 30, 2012 which made the count official.  more...

Zamboanga Peninsula Unemployment Rate Remains at 3.4 Percent in January 2012

The Labor Force Survey (LFS) conducted by the National Statistics Office (NSO)  showed that among the regions, the National Capital Region (NCR) posted the highest unemployment rate in January 2012 at 12.2 percent, followed by Central Luzon at 9.7 percent, Ilocos Region at 8.9 percent and CALABARZON at 8.5 percent.   more...

Palay Production Improves by 32.6% in 3rd Quarter 2011

The July-September 2011 palay production for Zamboanga Peninsula was 221,552 MT, 32.6% higher than the 2010 level of 167,105 MT. Area harvested expanded by 27.9%, from 43,911 hectares in 2010 to 56,157 hectares this year.

Inflation rate drops to 6.1 percent in September 2011

The region’s year-on-year inflation decreased to 6.1 percent in September 2011 from 6.6 percent in August 2011.   It resulted from the decrease in recreation and culture; alcoholic beverages and tobacco; food and non-alcoholic beverages; and restaurants and miscellaneous goods and services.
