The SAM is a matrix presentation of the System of National Accounts (SNA) elaborating the linkages between the supply and use table (commonly known as the I-O table) and institutional sector accounts.

It integrates the four existing economic frameworks in the country:

• System of National Accounts
• Balance of Payments
• Flow-of-Funds
• Input-Output Table

The SAM, therefore, provides a comprehensive and detailed quantified description of the macro-economic and financial interrelationships in the country.  It thus serves as a useful tool for formulating alternative development policies.  The latest available SAM is for 1990
