| Regional Web Pages and
Services The RD VIII Website
will feature a profile of the physical, social and economic situation in Eastern Visayas,
through historical and current data series, statistical analyses and updates on
developments in the region's statistical community. The RD
VIII Website will be appended to/linked with the NSCB main website to
enable access to and sharing of information resources with other NSCB sites. The RD VIII Website services data requests and
inquiries from Internet/World Wide Web users locally and around the globe. It is a useful
channel for providing immediate access to data needed by investors, businessmen, etc.
Library Services and Technical Assistance
The RU VIII maintains a statistical library containing various statistical publications
such as yearbooks, databook, and census and survey results of government agencies and
local government units and textbooks, journals and other references and thus serve as a
one-stop source of available regional and local statistics in the region. The RU VIII,
likewise, provides technical assistance on statistical data management, data analysis and
interpretation, concepts and applications. The library will save researchers' resources in
going around the region for collecting data, while through the technical assistance, users
will learn how to use available data and how to use them correctly.
Bookshoppe
This facility provides statistical publications for sale to the general public. It
makes available to users, especially from the private and foreign sectors, publications of
agencies. It is also one vehicle for recouping investments put by data producers in the
collection and publication of data.
Statistics Inquiry and Frontline Services
This service is provided to all users of data providing them information on what data
are available, when they are available and where they can be accessed. The frontline
service is a direct type of service whereby clients visiting or calling the center are
immediately provided with the information they need.
National Statistics Month
The celebration of the NSM is held to promote awareness
and recognition of the importance of statistics in development. The NSCB, being the
overall coordinator of the NSM, will spearhead the planning, conduct and monitoring of
activities such as workshops, symposia, briefings/conferences on statistical issues,
products and services exhibit, quiz contests and other similar events. It has become an
avenue for establishing a more dynamic statistical community in the region with both
public and private agencies working together in the celebration.
