9 in 10 visitor arrivals in EV are domestic tourists  

Total visitor arrivals to Eastern Visayas reached 199,705 in 2010.  Domestic tourists, totaling 183,670, accounted for the bulk or 92.0% of total visitor arrivals at 9 in every 10 visitors.  Competitive rates offered by various airlines and shipping lines contributed to the 14.3% significant increase in domestic tourism.  

Foreign tourists was recorded at 15,860, comprising only 7.9% of the total visitor arrivals.  Meanwhile, a total of 175 Overseas Filipinos visited the region. (Full Text)

2011 RSET for Eastern Visayas in Print Now Available

The National Statistical Coordination Board (NSCB) announces the release of the published 2011 Edition of the Regional Social and Economic Trends (RSET) for Eastern Visayas.

The RSET contains annual time series data on the region’s social and economic environment.  It features provincial, city and municipal disaggregation of statistics, whenever available.  The 2011 edition features the new series of the Official Poverty Statistics following refinements in poverty estimation methodology.  This also includes new tables on rainfall and Internal Revenue Allotment.

The 2011 RSET is also available for sale in CD-ROM. (Full Text)

NSCB Releases 2011 RSET for Eastern Visayas

The National Statistical Coordination Board Regional Division VIII releases the 2011 Regional Social and Economic Trends (RSET) for Eastern Visayas.  This is in line with our commitment to disseminate relevant information generated by the Philippine Statistical System (PSS) to address the demand for more adequate and diversified statistics for development planning at the regional and local level.

NSM Statistical Exhibit Takes Center Stage
at Robinsons Tacloban

A Statistical Exhibit featuring the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps), Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS), and other social protection statistics was formally opened at Robinsons Tacloban last October 5, 2011 during the Opening Ceremonies of the 22nd National Statistical Month (NSM) celebration in the region.  

The two-day exhibit from October 5-6 was participated in by twenty (20) agencies/institutions: DSWD, DOH, DepEd, DENR, POPCOM, NEDA, NSCB, NSO, DILG, BSP, DOLE, CHED, Plan Phil, DOST, DOT, GSIS, PhilHealth, Pag-IBIG Fund, SSS and GIZ.
