Training on Statistical Analysis and Report Writing Successfully Conducted         

A training course on Statistical Analysis and Report Writing was successfully conducted in Eastern Visayas last September 5-9, 2011 at Eastern Visayas State University (EVSU), Tacloban City.  The training provided the participants a discussion on the mechanics of technical writing as applied to statistics and how these statistics can be crafted to suit a variety of readers, whether statisticians or not.  It also taught the participants how to improve presentation of data and statistical reports.

 A total of twenty-four (24) statistical personnel coming from various national government agencies, local government units and the private sector completed the training.  Four competent resource persons, namely, Dr. Dennis C. de Paz and Prof. Lydia M. Morante of EVSU and Dr. Remberto A. Patindol and Dr. Jacqueline M. Guarte of Visayas State University (VSU) handled statistics and technical writing topics.  EVSU and VSU are SRTC training affiliates in the region.

 The Opening Ceremonies held last September 5, 2011 was graced by Dir. Gervacio G. Selda, Jr., the Executive Director of the Statistical Research and Training Center (SRTC), Dr. Dominador O. Aguirre, Jr., VP for Academic Affairs of EVSU, Dr. Evangeline Z. Hidalgo, Dean of College of Arts and Sciences of EVSU, and Ms. Evangeline M. Paran, RSCC Secretary and NSCB Regional Head. 

 The Closing Ceremonies was graced by Dir. Buenaventura C. Go-Soco, Jr., RSCC Chair and NEDA Regional Director and Dr. Dominador O. Aguirre, Jr., VP for Academic Affairs of EVSU, who awarded Certificates of Completion to the participants. 

 The statistical training was organized by RSCC VIII, in cooperation with the SRTC and EVSU.  Dr. Dennis C. de Paz of EVSU and Ms. Teresita L.
