Leyte Poverty Maps Presented to PDC

The 2003 and 2004 preliminary poverty maps of Leyte were presented to the Provincial Development Council (PDC) during its meeting last January 13, 2006 at the Governor’s Hall, Provincial Capitol, Tacloban City.

The presentation to the Mayors and other stakeholders was intended to validate the maps so that it can eventually be used for the identification of poverty alleviation programs by the province and the 41 municipalities of Leyte.

The poverty mapping activity has already been institutionalized in the province with the provision of GIS software from UN HABITAT.  The 2003 and 2004 poverty maps were generated by PPDO-Leyte staff through the training and technical assistance provided by NSCB.
