GRDP Users and Producers’ Forum Conducted

The GRDP Users and Producers’ Forum for Eastern Visayas was successfully conducted by NSCB last March 16, 2006 at Ritz Tower de Leyte, Tacloban City.  A total of forty (40) stakeholders and data producers coming from the LGUs, RLAs, SUCs, and the private sector participated in the forum.  The activity was funded by the Regional Development Council VIII.

Resource persons were Ms. Evangeline M. Paran and Ms. Riza N. Moraleta of NSCB.  They presented and discussed the 2004 GRDP preliminary estimates for Eastern Visayas as well as the concepts, methodology, and scope and coverage of GRDP estimation.

The discussions on GRDP issues and concerns, including data requirements, yielded concrete recommendations on generation of additional indicators and data improvement activities which will be very helpful in the estimation of the GRDP.

The activity aimed to: (1) orient data producers and users in the provinces and in the regional center on the system of GRDP compilation; (2) present data limitations in the GRDP estimation and recommend data improvement activities; and (3) get full support and cooperation of data producers in different provinces and regional center and forge institutional arrangements on the regular provision of data for GRDP estimation.
