STATNews RSCC CONDUCTS FIELD VISIT TO TONGONAN GEOTHERMAL PLANTS
The Field Visit was intended to enhance the knowledge of our executives, planners, statisticians and Statistics students on the system of energy generation in the region, get some energy statistics updates, and encourage the local government units to look into their potentials in terms of energy generation. The activity was hosted by the Philippine National Oil Company - Energy Development Corporation (PNOC-EDC) and California Energy International. The group was warmly received by the PNOC-EDC Management led by its Administrative Manager Dominador R. Miro. PNOC-EDC Operations Engineer Gary F. Cañete gave an orientation on the Tongonan Geothermal Power Exploration History and Operations, while Planning Engineer Karen L. Palaña discussed the Geothermal Program of the Department of Energy (DOE). After the orientation, the group proceeded to visit the Malitbog Power Plant, one of its five power plants. Tongonan Geothermal Plants known as Leyte Geothermal Power Field (LGPF) is the seat of geothermal power in the Philippines and the second geothermal power producer in the world.
