NSCB Conducts Data Appreciation Seminar

 In line with the celebration of the 19^th National Statistics Month (NSM) this October, the National Statistical Coordination Board conducted a half-day Data Appreciation Seminar last October 8, 2008 at the People’s Center, Tacloban City.  The forum was aimed at apprising local businessmen and government planners and statisticians with relevant statistics deemed useful in business planning and other business ventures.

 Presentations were made on important data produced by Philippine Statistical System, to wit: (1) 2007 Census of Population Results by Ms. Sheryl Ann A. Jamisola, Statistician I of NSO; (2) CPI and Inflation by Ms. Wilma C. Perante, Provincial Statistics Officer of NSO-Leyte; (3) 2007 GRDP Estimates by Ms. Zonia C. Salazar, Statistical Coordination Officer III of NSCB; and (4) Millennium Development Goals (MDG) Progress Report by Ms. Evangeline M. Paran, Regional Head of NSCB. 

Around 40 participants composed of NGA and LGU planners and statisticians, businessmen, Statistics instructors and students were in attendance.  They were able to gain awareness on the importance and value of statistics in businesses and in other development endeavors. 

The seminar was also graced by RSCC Co-Chair and NSO Regional Director, Raul F. Dones, who gave the Closing Remarks.
