18^th NSM Celebration Culminates

The 18^th National Statistics Month (NSM) celebration in Eastern Visayas formally culminated with a Closing Ceremonies held at the Regional Teachers Training Center (RTTC) of DepEd Regional Office 8 last October 30, 2007.  The ceremony was participated in by around sixty (60) participants coming from the regional line agencies, academe and LGUs.  This was jointly hosted by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas and DepEd Regional Office 8.

Important guests were Atty. Alberto T. Escobarte, Assistant Regional Director of DepEd, who gave the Welcome Remarks, Mr. Romulo N. Añover, Deputy Manager of BSP, who gave a Message, and Dir. Buenaventura C. Go-Soco, Jr., RSCC Chair and NEDA Regional Diretor, who gave the Closing Remarks. 

Highlights of the program included a presentation on DepEd’s Response to the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), which was delivered by Ms. Belen P. Hipe, Head, Regional Planning Unit of DepEd and the awarding of the Best LGUs in MDG Localization: Calbayog City, Samar (city level) and Cabucgayan, Biliran (municipality level). 

Awards of Recognition were also given to NEDA Regional Office, Regional KALAHI Convergence Group, DILG, DPWH, Holy Infant College, and DepEd for conducting innovative and high-impact activities during the month-long celebration.
