EV Joins National ICT Month Celebration

Eastern Visayas is joining the celebration of the National Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Month this June with the theme, “Speeding-up Human Resources’ e-Knowledge and Skills Part II”.  The celebration starts with the hanging of ICT Month streamers by participating agencies on June 9.  A motorcade around Tacloban City’s main streets will be conducted on June 23, followed by an Opening Program at the Leyte SMED Center Conference Room and the launching of the ICT Fiesta Expo 2008.

 The ICT Fiesta Expo 2008, which will be conducted on June 23-24, aims to build-up the ICT Hub image of Region 8, launch the Region’s ICT Human Resources Profiling Database, and promote the use of IT-enabled products and services, among others.  Around 15 exhibitors from various government agencies, schools and training centers, telephone companies, and ICT Enterprises will be invited. 

 The annual celebration of the ICT Month aims to create awareness among the local business sector and the general public on Eastern Visayas’ potential of becoming the next ICT Hub in the Philippines, and in the process, advocate support in the promotion and development of the sector.

Other activities will be conducted also by the respective agencies and LGUs.    

The National ICT Month celebration in the region is being spearheaded by the Regional Information Technology and E-Commerce Committee (RITTECC), an affiliate committee of the Regional Development Council.
