NSM Statistical Exhibit Takes Center Stage at Robinsons Tacloban
A Statistical Exhibit featuring the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps), Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS), and other social protection statistics was formally opened at Robinsons Tacloban last October 5, 2011 during the Opening Ceremonies of the 22nd National Statistical Month (NSM) celebration in the region. The two-day exhibit from October 5-6 was participated in by twenty (20) agencies/institutions: DSWD, DOH, DepEd, DENR, POPCOM, NEDA, NSCB, NSO, DILG, BSP, DOLE, CHED, Plan Phil, DOST, DOT, GSIS, PhilHealth, Pag-IBIG Fund, SSS and GIZ. This was organized by the NSM Regional Steering Committee, Chaired by Ms. Evangeline M. Paran, Regional Head of the NSCB. The Statistical Exhibit attracted numerous shoppers and mallgoers, including teachers who were in the same venue celebrating World Teachers’ Day. Video presentations on various programs and projects of participating agencies such as the Regional Development Plan (RDP) of NEDA, Biyaheng Pinoy of DILG, Child Protection of Plan Philippines, Self-Employment Assistance Kaunlaran (SEA-K), 4Ps, and Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan- Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (KALAHI-CIDSS) of the DSWD were shown continuously. The DSWD also conducted a demo on the National Household Targeting System for Poverty Reduction (NHTS-PR) Database to EVSU BS Statistics 4th Year Students. The NHTS-PR is an information management system that identifies who and where the poor are nationwide. Meanwhile, GSIS, SSS, and Pag-IBIG Fund provided consultations to walk-in clients on their services. The Statistical Exhibit was one of the major activities conducted in celebration of the NSM focusing on the theme, “Quality Social Protection Statistics for Focused Targeting: Improving Outcomes, Changing Lives”.
