15th National Statistics Month Opens

The 15th National Statistics Month celebration in Eastern Visayas kicks off on October 1, 2004 with a Holy Mass and an Opening Ceremony, which will be held at the Leyte Normal University Conference Room at 8:30 in the morning. The activity is sponsored by the National Economic and Development Authority.

Pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 647 declaring the month of October as National Statistics Month, this year’s celebration is anchored on the theme “Rising Beyond Global Challenges Through Quality Philippine Statistics”.

The major highlights of the activity include the presentation of statistics in the Regional Development Plan to be given by Regional Development Council (RDC) Secretariat and the display of Statistical Exhibits by various agencies in the region in said venue.

On the other hand, the official launching of the National Statistics Month at the national level is on October 4-5, 2004 to coincide with the holding of the 9th National Convention on Statistics (NCS) at the EDSA Shangri-La Hotel, Mandaluyong City spearheaded by the Philippine Statistical System (PSS) through the National Statistical Coordination Board (NSCB).
