PNP Regional Office No. 6 Adopts New System of Reporting Crime Statistics
(Posted March 29, 2010)

Starting 2009, the Philippine National Police Regional Office No. 6 adopted and implemented a new system of reporting crime statistics. This system of reporting crime incidents was formulated to generate a more accurate crime statistics that would depict a real picture of the prevailing crime situation.

Just like the old system of reporting crime incidents, the police blotter remains as the major source of crime data.  Some significant changes in the new reporting system is the inclusion of more indicators such as carnapping and cattle rustling under index crimes against property; violation of special laws, and moreover, counting of crime incidents includes all those recorded down from the barangays to the police offices/stations.
