                              LTO collected 31.24 million pesos on fines and penalties

  In 2009, the Land Transportation Office (LTO) Regional Office 6 collected Php31.24 million pesos on fines and penalties in the implementation of the Rules and Regulations on RA 8750 (Seat Belt Act of 1999), RA 8749 (Clean Air Act of 1999), RA 8794 (Axle-Overloading), and D.O 93-693 & Others (Issuance of Vanity License Plate). Of the total amount collected 87.17% or 27.23 million pesos came from D.O 93-693 & Others (Issuance of Vanity License Plate);  8.27% or 2.58 million pesos collected from fines and penalties on RA 8750 (Seat Belt Act of 1999); 3.76% or 1.17 million pesos from RA 8794 (Axle-Overloading); and 0.80% or Php251,000.00 from RA 8749 (Clean Air Act of 1999).

Text Box: The Region’s total number of motor vehicles registered in 2009 reached 333,442.  A notable increase of 7.94% from its level in 2008. Of the total  motor vehicles registered in 2009, 85.94% are renewal and 14.06% are newly registered. Private vehicles which comprised the bulk (79.64%) of the total motor vehicles registered, grew by 8.13% from 245, 597 in 2008 to 265,557 in 2009. Vehicles for hire on the other hand comprising 19.16% posted the growth of 7.42%.
