Bacolod City is the capital of Negros Occidental. It has two (2) seaports, one in Banago and the other in BREDCO ports which has the facilities for passengers, cargo and container handling.  Bacolod City has one airport servicing the domestic commercial flights of two airline companies, Philippine Airlines and Cebu Pacific. Philippine Airlines has daily flights from Cebu and has three daily flights to Manila. Bacolod City is also accessible by land and water, almost 24 hours by ordinary ship from Manila, 2 hours from Iloilo and 7 hours by land from Cebu.

Bacolod City is known of its Masskara Festival, an annual mardigras celebrated on the 3rd weekend of October when everyone is in the streets in celebration. Smiling masks are deriguer with gaily costumed revelers dancing and prancing to the beat of the drums.
