RSCC Region V Excepts from the
Minutes of the Regular Meeting of the RESOLUTION NO. 05-2007 APPROVING THE 2005 POVERTY MAPS OF THE PROVINCE OF SORSOGON WHEREAS, poverty mapping is an activity initiated by the NSCB to provide local government units with an additional tool for planning, programming, implementation and monitoring of poverty alleviation initiatives.
WHEREAS, poverty maps provide a
Minimum Basic Needs (MBN) indicator-based measure of poverty for comparison
across municipalities/cities in a province over time using Geographic
Information System (GIS) technology to translate the indicators into maps
for visual appreciation of the conditions and locations of the poor; |

WHEREAS, institutionalization of poverty mapping activity in Sorsogon was formalized through Sorsogon Provincial Development Council (PDC) Resolution No. 4 Series of 2005; WHEREAS, technical assistance in the form of training on data generation, data cleaning and validation, computation of indexes and basic GIS software application for the preparation of the maps were provided by the NSCB Regional Division V to the province of Sorsogon; WHEREAS, the outputs of the poverty mapping activity has undergone a validation process with Local Planning and Development Officers, representatives of data source agencies and other stakeholders in the province; WHEREAS, the poverty maps were presented by the Provincial Planning and Development Office of the Province of Sorsogon to the members of the RSCC for approval; NOW THEREFORE, on motion duly seconded, be it: RESOLVED, AS IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, that the Regional Statistical Coordination Committee approves the 2005 poverty maps of the province of Sorsogon. RESOLVED, FURTHER, that copy of this resolution be furnished the Provincial Government of Sorsogon for its information; APPROVED, this 9th day of August 2007 in Legazpi City.
