RSCC Region V Excepts from the
Minutes of the Regular Meeting of the RESOLUTION NO. 04-2007
REQUESTING THE NATIONAL STATISTICS
OFFICE TO INCLUDE
WHEREAS, pursuant to the country’s
commitment to the Millennium Declaration, the NSCB Executive Board passed
Resolution No. 10-2004, approving the Millennium Development Goals (MDG)
indicators for adoption by all concerned in the planning, policy formulation
and decision making processes at the national and subnational/local levels,
enjoining data support in the generation of such indicators and designating
the NSCB as the repository of the MDG indicators in the country; |

WHEREAS, one of the Millennium Development Goals is to develop a global partnership for development, among the approved indicators for which include telephone lines and cellular phone subscribers per 100 population, personal computers in use per 100 population and internet users per 100 population; WHEREAS, baseline data at lower geographic disaggregation for these indicators are currently not available and are not generated by any government agency; WHEREAS, recognizing the importance of technology in the lives of people today, there is a need to generate these and other information technology-related data for planning, monitoring, evaluation and decision-making of the government and the private sector; NOW THEREFORE, on motion duly seconded, be it: RESOLVED, AS IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, that the RSCC request the National Statistics Office (NSO) for the information on landline and cellular phone subscribers, number of personal computers in use, number of internet users and other information technology-related data to be included in their censuses of population; RESOLVED FINALLY, that copies of this resolution be furnished the NSO Central Office through the NSO Regional Office, for consideration; APPROVED, this 9th day of August 2007 in Legazpi City.
