Excepts from the Minutes of the Regular Meeting of the
Regional Statistical Coordination Committee held on April 11, 2007 at the
National Economic and Development Authority, Arimbay, Legazpi City

 RESOLUTION NO. 03-2007

REQUESTING THE DILG V TO INCLUDE THE MONITORING SYSTEM FOR
THE LOCALIZED MILLENNIUM DEVELOPMENT GOALS OF REGION V
IN THE ORIENTATION FOR NEWLY ELECTED OFFICIALS

WHEREAS, pursuant to the country’s commitment to the Millennium Declaration, the NSCB Executive Board passed Resolution No. 10-2004, approving the Millennium Development Goals (MDG) indicators for adoption by all concerned in the planning, policy formulation and decision making processes at the national and subnational/local levels, enjoining data support in the generation of such indicators and designating the NSCB as the repository of the MDG indicators in the country;

WHEREAS, in furtherance of NSCB Resolution No. 10-2004, the RSCC passed Resolution No. 02-06 designating the NSCB Regional Division V as the repository of Millennium Development Goal (MDG) indicators in the Bicol Region, supported by the Regional Development Council –Bicol Region through RDC Resolution No. 05-85, series of 2006 "Enjoining Regional Government Agencies and Local Government Units to Provide Data Support to the MDG Indicators";
 

WHEREAS, recognizing the need for a monitoring system that would harmonize the generation of MDG indicators, identify and resolve data gaps and prescribe reporting systems necessary to track down progress in the achievement of the MDGs, the RSCC passed Resolution No. 02-2007 “Approving the Monitoring System for the Localized Millennium Development Goals of Region V”;

WHEREAS, it is deemed necessary that the MDG Monitoring System be fully disseminated to local officials and all concerned agencies involved in the monitoring of the MDG indicators;

WHERAS, Local Chief Executives and members of Local Legislative Bodies are at the forefront of efforts to localize the Millennium Development Goals in their respective constituencies;

WHEREAS, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) conducts an “Orientation for Newly Elected Officials” after every election at the local level;

NOW THEREFORE, on motion duly seconded, be it:

RESOLVED, AS IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, that the RSCC request the DILG Regional Office V to include the MDG Monitoring System as approved through RSCC Resolution No. 02-07, in the “Orientation for Newly Elected Officials” conducted after every election at the local level;

RESOLVED FINALLY, that copies of this resolution be furnished the DILG Regional Office V and all concerned for appropriate action.
