Excerpts from the Minutes of the Regular Meeting of the
Regional Statistical Coordination Committee held on April 29, 1997 at the 
National Economic and Development Authority, Arimbay, Legazpi City

 

RESOLUTION NO. 02-97

MAKING THE NATIONAL STATISTICAL COORDINATION BOARD
REGIONAL UNIT V AS A DEPOSITORY OF ALL STATISTICS PRODUCED BY
GOVERNMENT AGENCIES, STATE COLLEGES/UNIVERSITIES,
GOVERNMENT-OWNED AND/OR CONTROLLED CORPORATIONS,
AND LOCAL GOVERNMENT UNITS

WHEREAS, Executive Order No. 121 issued on January 30, 1987 created the National Statistical Coordination Board (NSCB) as the highest policy-making and coordinating body on statistical matters;

WHEREAS, the NSCB is mandated to establish appropriate mechanisms for statistical coordination at the regional, provincial and city levels to address statistical concerns obtaining these areas;
  

WHEREAS, pursuant to its mandate, the NSCB Executive Board issued Resolution No. 01-92 on January 9, 1992 creating the Regional Statistical Coordination Committee (RSCC) in all regions in the country under the administrative supervision of the Regional Development Councils and corresponding policy making bodies in the autonomous regions to be NSCB's counterpart and serve as the highest policy-making and coordinating body on statistical matters in the regions;

WHEREAS, the Regional Units of the National Statistical Coordination Board serves as the Secretariat of the RSCCs;

WHEREAS, the NSCB Regional Unit V administers the National Statistical Information Center (NSIC) Bicol Branch, to provide a one stop venue where users could access statistical data generated by government agencies; 

WHEREAS, the utilization of more effective means of data dissemination to be able to reach out to more data users was one of the recommended thrusts and strategies of the 1993-1998 Philippine Statistical Development Plan;

WHEREAS, the RSCC realizes the problems on generation and dissemination of government statistics;

WHEREAS, the RSCC believes that the use of information must be maximized as a key to competitiveness;

NOW THEREFORE, on motion duly seconded, be it

RESOLVED, AS IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, that the National Statistical Coordination Board Regional Unit V be made as a depository of all statistics produced by government agencies, state colleges/universities, government-owned and/or controlled corporations, and local government units as their primary functions or part of their administrative or regulatory functions;

RESOLVED FURTHER, that all concerned entities submit their statistics to the NSCB Regional Unit V as soon as these are available;

RESOLVED FINALLY, that copies of this resolution be furnished to all concerned for their compliance.
