RSCC Region V Excepts from the
Minutes of the Regular Meeting of the
RESOLUTION NO. 02-2002
IMPLEMENTING THE DATA ARCHIVING
POLICIES AND GUIDELINES WHEREAS, the National Statistical Coordination Board (NSCB), the highest policy-making and coordinating body on statistical matters by virtue of Executive Order No. 121 issued on January 30, 1987, created the Regional Statistical Coordination Committee (RSCC) to serve as its counterpart in the region;
WHEREAS, the RSCC is mandated to
establish appropriate mechanisms for statistical coordination at the
regional, provincial and municipal/city levels and to address statistical
concerns obtaining in these areas; |

WHEREAS, the NSCB passed NSCB Resolution No. 11-02, “Approving the Data Archiving Policies and Guidelines for the Philippine Statistical System” on June 5, 2002; WHEREAS, there is a need to preserve the wealth of statistical information for the benefit of the present and future generations; WHEREAS, archiving ensures that information is preserved against technological obsolescence and physical damage; WHEREAS, the RSCC recognizes the importance of data archiving not only to preserve the information and serve as reference in the future but also as a means of conserving resources; NOW THEREFORE, on motion duly seconded, be it RESOLVED, AS IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, that the RSCC adopts the data archiving policies and guidelines for the PSS as prescribed by the NSCB; RESOLVED FURTHER THAT, the RSCC request concerned agencies to submit to the NSCB Regional Unit V their archiving program and thereafter submit an annual archiving report to the NSCB; RESOLVED FINALLY THAT, copies of the Resolution be furnished all concerned agencies in the region for their compliance. APPROVED, this 31st day July 2002 at the National Economic and Development Authority, Arimbay, Legazpi City.
