RSCC Region V Excerpts from the
Minutes of the Regular Meeting of the
RESOLUTION NO. 01-96 CREATING THE
TECHNICAL WORKING GROUP ON WHEREAS, Republic Act 7192 known as "Women in Development and Nation Building Act" recognizes the role of women in nation building and ensures the fundamental equality before the law of men and women; WHEREAS,
the government has adopted the Philippine Development Plan for Women (PDPW),
1989-1994 and issued Executive Order 348 directing all government agencies
to implement the programs outlined in the Plan; |

WHEREAS, in support of RA 7129, the Philippine Statistical Development Program 1993-1998 translates the mission of the Philippine Statistical System into programs and activities, among others to produce gender-sensitive statistics for all sectors of the economy; WHEREAS, the availability of a comprehensive set of information which is gender-disaggregated will provide a sound basis for formulating plans and programs aimed at improving the status of women and for monitoring the impact of said plans and programs; WHEREAS, NSCB Resolution No. 8-94 was issued enjoining different agencies to promote gender concerns in the generation of statistics; WHEREAS, the RSCC as the highest policy-making body on statistical matters in the region was created to establish appropriate mechanisms for statistical coordination at the regional, provincial and city/municipal levels to address statistical concerns in these areas; WHEREAS, there is a need to create a Technical Working Group on Gender and Development (TWG-GAD) to prepare the work and financial plan in formulating the plan of activities to generate gender-disaggregated data; NOW THEREFORE, on motion duly seconded, be it RESOLVED, AS IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, to create a Technical Working Group on Gender and Development (TWG-GAD) with the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) as lead agency and whose members shall include the following agencies:
RESOLVED FURTHER, that membership to the TWG-GAD shall not be limited to the above-mentioned agencies but may include local government units (LGUs), non-government organizations (NGOs), and other agencies/entities should there be a need to include them; RESOLVED FINALLY, that copies of this resolution be provided the concerned agencies for their appropriate action. APPROVED, this 27th day of May 1996 at the National Economic and Development Authority, Arimbay, Legazpi City.
