Excepts from the Minutes of the Regular Meeting of the
Regional Statistical Coordination Committee held on September 5, 2006 at the
National Economic and Development Authority, Arimbay, Legazpi City

 RESOLUTION NO. 01-2006

ENJOINING AGENCIES, LOCAL GOVERNMENT UNITS (LGUs) AND
THE PRIVATE SECTOR TO PROVIDE DATA SUPPORT FOR THE
ESTIMATION OF THE GROSS REGIONAL DOMESTIC PRODUCT (GRDP)

WHEREAS, Executive Order No. 121 issued on January 30, 1987 mandated the National Statistical Coordination Board (NSCB) to establish appropriate mechanism for statistical coordination at the regional, provincial and city levels and allocate statistical responsibilities among government agencies;

WHEREAS, in order to harmonize the conduct of statistical activities in the country, Executive Order No. 352 was approved on July 1, 1996 designating statistical activities to government agencies, including their periodicity and content, that will generate critical data for decision-making of the government and private sector;
 

WHEREAS, NSCB was designated to establish and maintain the System of National Accounts (SNA), which serves as basis for analyzing the functioning of the economy and its component sectors to guide in policy formulation, measure overall and sectoral growths and relationships among the different economic sectors;

WHEREAS, to address the overriding concern to provide disaggregated information on economic development in support of decentralized planning and decision making, the Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) account is being compiled by the NSCB;

WHEREAS, the Gross Regional Domestic Product is a useful tool in assessing the region’s economic performance, evaluating the interrelationship of the different economic sectors and gauging the region’s economic performance vis-à-vis other region’s of the country;

WHEREAS, the timely and realistic estimate of the GRDP relies on the timely provision of reliable data and indicators derived from surveys and administrative data systems of government agencies and local government units as part of their regulatory functions and inputs from the private sector;

NOW THEREFORE, on motion duly seconded, be it:

RESOLVED, AS IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, that the Regional Statistical Coordination Committee enjoin line agencies, local government units (LGUs) and the private sector to generate and regularly provide the National Statistical Coordination Board, Regional Division V, timely and accurate data necessary for the GRDP estimation, as detailed in Annex “A” attached to and made part of this resolution;

RESOLVED FINALLY, that copies of this resolution be furnished all concerned for appropriate action.
