The Department of Tourism Regional Office 5 recorded 897,680 tourist arrivals from January to December 2007, 41% higher than the previous year. Camarines Sur/Naga City accounted for the dominant increase of 77% (from 258,608 to 456,911) and Catanduanes with 76% (from 29,026 to 51,055).

Comparing this quarter's performance to the same period in 2006, tourist arrivals increased by 13.8%. Local tourists comprised 90.62% of the total. Gross visitor receipts for the fourth quarter reached P90.7 Million. As in last year, most foreign tourists were from USA, Japan and South Korea.

The region's major promotional and marketing campaigns included the Gayon Bikol Fiesta in October at SM Mega Trade Hall and the 7th Bicol Tourism, Trade and Investment Mission in November in Australia. The Mission is an annual program of the Department of Tourism Regional Office 5 which compliments the WOW Philippines marketing campaign of the DOT aimed at fast-tracking the socio-economic development of the region through aggressive promotion of tourism and trade. It was participated in by local government officials and other stakeholders.
 

Some of the other major events/ festivals were the National Conference on Climate Change Adaptation (Albay), 2nd National Wakeboard Competition (Camarines Sur), 8th National Convention of the Association of Tourism Officers of the Philippines (Camarines Sur), Elimination Round for Bicol and Southern Tagalog of the Philippine Olympic Festival (Naga City), Mambulaw and Paruyan Festivals (Camarines Norte), Pacific Chaos (a national surfing competition at Bagasbas Beach, Camarines Norte), Catandungan Festival (highlighted by a surfing exhibition and competition in Catanduanes) and Kasanggayahan Festival (Sorsogon) in October; Surf to Dodge 2007 (a surfing competition at Bagasbas Beach, Camarines Norte) in November; and the Bicol Regional Tourism Summit and Kamundagan Festival (Naga City), Sorsogon Festival (Sorsogon) and the Bicol Pastores (Albay) in December.
