In terms of fatalities, Albay had the most number of deaths of 3 persons. On the other
hand, Camarines Norte and Camarines Sur each had four injured persons as a result of the
fires in these provinces.
Despite the increase in fire incidence, a 3.3 percent decrease in property damages was
noted. Camarines Sur suffered the greatest damage to property representing 25.8 percent of
the total property damages in the region. Masbate, which had only 21 fire incidents,
ranked second. Albay, with the second highest number of fires in 1998 ranked fourth in
terms of property damages. While Sorsogon had the lowest number of incidents of 11, it
lost almost P15.5 million worth of properties, the third highest in the region.
