An increase of 4.8
percent in the total crime volume in the Bicol Region was noted in 1998 compared to the
1997 incidence of 3,913. Crime solution efficiency also increased by 0.5 percentage points
from 92.15 percent in 1997.
Camarines Sur, the biggest among the six provinces in terms of land area and population,
accounted for 33.9 percent of the total crime volume. It also had the highest number of
cases in all types of index crimes except for murder, which were prevalent in
Masbate.
Camarines Sur's crime solution efficiency rate, however, ranked fourth at 91.8 percent.
