the1999 crime volume was lowest in 10 years in the Bicol Region?

Crime Volume and Crime SolvedThe Philippine National Police in Region V recorded the lowest crime volume in 1999 for the last 10 years at 3,863 or a 5.8 percent decrease from the 1998 crime incidence of 4,102.

Crime rate or the number of crimes committed per 100,000 population significantly decreased by 6.8 percentage points. Last year's crime rate stood at 82.8 while in 1998 it was at 89.6.

Among provinces, Sorsogon experienced the greatest decline at 37.3 percent in crime volume. Its crime rate was also the lowest at 47.1. Crime solution efficiency of this province however, was ranked fourth at 89.1 percent.

On the other hand, Catanduanes was the only province which posted an increase in its crime volume at 97.4 percent. Its index crime increased by 94.4 percent in 1999 while non-index crime increased by 102.3 percent. It also had the second highest crime rate at 104.6 following Camarines Norte at 150.3. Catanduanes however, managed to have the highest crime solution efficiency among the six provinces at 96.5 percent.
