Overview of the Region BY AIR This southernmost province of Luzon is accessible by plane through the Legazpi City Airport. From here you can take a cab and go direct to Sorsogon or a "tricycle" that can take you to the city proper where buses queue for passengers going to Sorsogon. BY LAND From Manila, several bus companies are available going to Sorsogon. A visitor may choose either an aircon or non-aircon bus according to one's preference. Most of these buses have booking offices in Cubao, Quezon City. It takes 13 to 14 hours to reach Sorsogon town. From Legazpi, it takes one and a half hour to reach the town proper. One may choose bus or jeepney which ply daily the Legazpi-Sorsogon route. Private vehicles take less than an hour. BY SEA As gateway to Visayas and Mindanao Islands, one can choose two routes through Matnog Ferry Terminal. Via Samar Two roll-on and roll-off domestic vessels--M/V Maharlika and M/V Northern Samar ply the Matnog-Allen or San Isidro, Samar route in four scheduled trips daily. Via Masbate Three large boats--M/V Matea, M/V Sto. Niño and M/V Peñafrancia--ply the Bulan-Masbate route. At Masbate island, one can choose domestic vessels plying Masbate--Cebu or Masbate--Manila.
