Municipal Profile - Donsol, Sorsogon
Economy

Donsol is a 4th class municipality with an actual annual income of P36,941.071.79 for CY 2003. The source of livelihood includes fishing, farming, livestock production, cottage industries and food processing. Employment opportunities are distributed among major industries in the locality, such as agricultural, commercial (sales/trading/marketing), construction and transportation.

The Donsol Public Market operated by the local government unit located in Brgy. Market Site sells dry goods, fruits and vegetables and has wet and eatery sections. Monday serves as the market day of the municipality.

The only financial institution found in the municipality is the Rural Bank of Donsol, Inc. It was established in 1967. Variety stores, drugstores, bakeries, funeral parlors, gasoline stations, junk shops, a pawnshop and water station  to meet the needs of tourists and local residents for mineral water are also existent in the municipality.

abacaCopra trading is the major business industry engaged by most businessmen in Donsol. There are six existing copra buying centers mostly operated by Chinese descendants and a minimal number of sub-buying centers located within the coastal and inland barangays of the municipality.

Nipa shingles making, balagon crafts making, fish processing, wood furniture making and abaca weaving are some of the cottage industries found in the municipality.
