Overview of the Region PURARAN RESORT The white and clean beach makes it very inviting. The marvelous waves beckon surfers and sea lovers for an exciting adventure. The underwater garden of corals is a lure for sea divers and snorkelers. It is an hour and a half from Virac, the island's capital. LUYANG CAVE This cave has a grotto and an altar within. Made of limestones, it is located in Lictin, San Andres. A mute witness to the historical massacre of natives fleeing the pirates during the 17th century. For more adventure, one can go deeper into another pit below found within where calcite stoneflows are marvels to discover. BUYO CAVE A 15-meter vertical entrance awaits visitors which leads to an underground stream. One can enjoy bathing in an underground lake at the leftside portion close to the bottom of the entrance. It is 2 kms. away from Sto. Domingo (4 kms. away from Virac town). |

TOYTOY BEACH Another white and clean beach. Developed by the local government, it is found in Toytoy, Caramoran (101 kms. away from Virac). The well-developed coral underwater formations make it suitable for snorkeling and spear-fishing adventure. MAMANGAL BEACH Like Puraran, the sands are white. Developed by the local government, the beaches are lined with cool and shady trees. It is located close to San Andres town. IGANG BEACH Also of white sands, there are caves nearby where one can explore after swimming. The underwater coral formations are ideal for spear fishing. On the right side of the beach area is an isle where surfing can be enjoyed.
NAHULUGAN FALLS Legend says that the falls was named after a man and his carabao who fell while crossing the hilltop. An awesome wonder, its waters beautifully cascade on three tiers, creating spectacular sprays. It is surrounded by lush vegetation and forest. |

Folk festivals are celebrated as part of the local religious rituals traces of Spanish colonization. The "Kalbaryo" of Calvary is staged by barrio sitios during holy week, a reenactment of the passion of Christ.
